Apartment Living Brings Gulf Coast Touring

First stop on our tour is Mobile, Alabama – Home to the famous Mobile Leprechaun. If you haven’t heard of this southern legend, take a moment to view this video. You can thank us later 🙂

Now, let’s continue to proceed on our route…

Attractions in Mobile, AL

Mobile is a port city tucked away along Mobile Bay saturated with blooming azaleas and beautiful Antebellum homes. This city packs a ton of history!

Starting with the USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park that serves as a memorial to those who have served in the United States Armed Forces. You can tour the grand ship that served during World War II and the Veterans Park almost every day of the year.

Mobile is also where Mardi Gras originated. It’s a true celebration packed with parades, masked balls, and even a Moon Pie drop to commemorate the New Year! The Mobile Carnival Museum highlights an entire collection of Mardi Gras memorabilia that is housed inside the historic Bernstein-Bush mansion. The museum showcases over 300 years of Mardi Gras in the Mobile area from floats to costume design.

Finally, Mobile Bay is an inlet of the Gulf of Mexico and an estuary that extends from the entrance of Mobile River. At 413 square miles, Mobile Bay is the fourth largest bay in the United States! The bay is known for an unusual occurrence called a “jubilee”. Annually during the summer months, fish and crustaceans swim close to the shoreline and are easier to catch. This only happens in Mobile Bay!

Day Trip for Gulf Shores Entertainment

Continuing down the Gulf Coast is the cozy beach town of Gulf Shores. Gulf Shores is full of fun and constant entertainment. It’s been a popular destination spot on the Gulf Coast for decades!

However, it’s more recently become popular with the creation of Hangout Musical Festival. Each year in May, the now famous music festival showcases popular musical line ups from all genres. Another popular festival that has been happening for 48 years is The Annual National Shrimp Festival. This huge volunteer effort in Baldwin County has been voted one of “The Best Food and Drink Festivals in North America” by FlightNetwork. The Shrimp Fest offers delicious seafood options, music, and art all in one location! If you want to stop by for a good time and a good meal, the festival occurs every year in October. You can visit their website for complete details If you are looking for some more family fun while you are on vacation, stop by Waterville USA Waterpark or the Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo. Waterville offers several amusement park attractions to cool off in the summer heat and the zoo offers amazing one on one animal interactions with sloths, kangaroos, and other fun creatures!

Sandy Shores Apartments to Pensacola, FL

The last stop on our tour is Pensacola, Florida. Pensacola serves as home base to the world- famous Blue Angels Navy Flight Demonstration Squadron. The Naval Aviation Museum was established in 1914 and houses the Blue Angels jets. You can see flight demonstrations, practices for air shows, and tons of interactive exhibits at the museum. NAS is the oldest naval air station in the US. You can see the Blues practice almost daily just by driving through Perdido Key!

Now, we are going to climb 177 steps up the Pensacola Lighthouse for one of the most beautiful views on the Gulf Coast. Yes, you can even watch a Blue Angels Air Show from the top! The Lighthouse was built in 1859 and houses a haunted tale that features a mysterious blood stain in the Keeper’s Quarters.

The last stop on our tour features food and fun that can only be had at McGuire’s Irish Pub! McGuire’s offers massive servings of steak, traditional pub fare like fish and chips, and beer made in house. You can hear bag pipers throughout the restaurant on the weekends and even go up to kiss the moose! You don’t want to miss a meal from McGuires, so make sure to call ahead for a reservation. McGuire’s also is home to the famous McGuire’s St. Patrick’s Day 5k Run! Finish the run, and you might even see Mr. McGuire himself at the finish line to greet you with an Irish Wake!
